MSHSL Adapted Hockey Tournament

Quarterfinals

Maple Grove 5, Lakeville/Burnsville 1

Danny Boesen's hat trick and goals from Billy Williams and Antoine Driver propelled the Crimson to a 5 to 1 win over a very rugged Lakeville/Burnsville team. Joel Phelps stopped 26 of 27 shots to pick up the win in the nets.

Semifinals

Maple Grove 3, South Suburban 2

The Crimson knocked off the undefeated and number 1 seeded South Suburban Jets with their strongest defensive effort of the season. Billy Williams scored his second goal of the game to give the Crimson a 3 to 1 lead with 8:20 left in the 3rd period. The Jets scored with 2:11 left in the game to make the score 3 to 2. But strong defensive play by Antoine Driver ans George Watkins allowed only 1 shot on goalie Joel Phelps to seal the victory. Phelps stopped 26 of 28 shots to pick up the win in the nets.

State Championship Game

Dakota United 5, Maple Grove 1

A very strong and senior dominated Dakota United team soundly defeated the Crimson 5 to 1 in the title game.
Dakota's speed proved to be the difference in the game with Crimson goalie Joel Phelps stopping 43 of 48 Dakota shots in the game. Senior wing Danny Boesen and sophomore goalie Joel Phelps were named to the Wells Fargo All Tournament team.

March 3 - Maple Grove 11, Mounds View 3

Antoine Driver was a one man wrecking crew as he scored 5 times, all from long range, as Maple Grove rolled to a solid 11 to 3 win over a good Mounds View team. Billy Williams and Danny Boesen each scored twice with Kamla Ramdihal and George Watkins also netting a goal each. Joel Phelps stopped 27 of 30 shots to pick up the goaltending win. 

March 2 - Maple Grove 7, Robbinsdale 0

Danny Boesen notched his third hat trick of the season as the Crimson rolled to a 7 to 0 win over a much improved Robbinsdale team. Kamla Ramdihal, Antoine Driver, Billy Williams and George Watkins each scored once for Maple Grove. Joel Phelps only saw 8 shots and stopped them all for the win in the nets.

February 23 - Anoka 7, Maple Grove 5

Anoka put an end to the Crimson’s perfect season with a 7 to 5 thumping at the Andover YMCA. Danny Boesen opened the 3rd period for Maple Grove with his 3rd goal of the game to close the score to 4 to 3. But Anoka roared back with 3 straight goals to put the game away. Two late goals by Billy Williams and Kamla Ramdihal proved to be too little and too late for the Crimson. Joel Phelps lost his first game between the pipes stopping 22 of 29 Anoka shots. 

February 19 - Maple Grove 9, Wayzata/Minnetonka 3

Kamla Ramidhal turned in a career night as she scored 4 times to help lift Maple Grove to a hard fought 9 to 3 win over a much improved Wayzata/Minnetonka squad. Billy Williams netted a hat trick while Antoine Driver & Danny Boesen each scored once. Joel Phelps got his 9th win in the nets.

February 17 - Maple Grove 15, St. Cloud 1

Nine different Crimson players scored goals as Maple Grove rolled to a 15 to1 win over St. Cloud . Ryan Cornwell scored 4 times with Zach Stanhope, Antoine Driver and Billy Williams getting 2 goals each. Also scoring for the Crimson were George Watkins, Danny Boesen, Tasha Feigh, Kamla Ramidhal and Ger Yang.  Joel Phelps gave up one goal in picking up his 8th win in the nets.

February 12 - Maple Grove 19, St. Cloud 3

Eight different Crimson players scored as Maple Grove rolled to a 19 to 3 win over a shorthanded St. Cloud squad, who were missing their top two players. Danny Boesen set a team record with 3 goals in 26 seconds at the start of the 2nd period as he scored 4 times in the game. Billy Williams and Antoine Driver each netted a hat trick while Kamla Ramdihal, George Watkins, Ryan Cornwell and Joe Erickson each scored twice. Ger Yang had the other goal with Alicia Taylor adding 3 assists. Joel Phelps got the win in the nets.

February 5 - Maple Grove 10, North Suburban 0

George Watkins scores 3 times and Billy Williams twice as the Crimson CI adapted hockey team broke open a close game to defeat a much improved North Suburban team, 10 to 0. Leading 2 to 0 after 2 periods, Maple Grove scored 8, 3rd period goals to break open a tight game. Joel Phelps recorded the shut out in the nets, his 3rd of the season.

February 4 - Maple Grove 14, Robbinsdale 4

Nine different players scored goals as the Maple Grove CI adapted hockey team rolled to a 14 to 4 win over Robbinsdale. Billy Williams and Ryan Cornwell lead the way each netting a hat trick. Antoine Driver scored a pair of goals while Danny Boesen and Andy Brown each scored a goal and 3 assists. Also scoring goals for the Crimson were Kamla Ramdihal, Sammy VeoPradith, Ger Yang & Jenny Ketelsen. Joel Phelps got the win in the nets.

January 29 - Maple Grove 4, Mounds View 0

Joel Phelps stopped all 17 shots he faced and recorded his 2nd shut out in a row as Maple Grove played a great game defeating Mounds View 4 to 0. Defensively, Antoine Driver & George Watkins very rock solid all night with Driver scoring twice and Watkins with a goal and 2 assists. Billy Williams scored the last Crimson goal on a face off pass from Kamla Ramdihal.

January 22 - Maple Grove 6, Wayzata/Minnetonka 0

Billy Williams netted a hat trick and Joel Phelps stopped all 20 shots to lead the Crimson to a 6 to 0 win over a scrappy Wayzata/Minnetonka squad. Danny Boesen, George Williams and Antoine Driver each scored once; while Alicia Taylor contributed two assists as Maple Grove upped their record to 3 & 0.

January 21 - Maple Grove 6, Anoka 5

Danny Boesen, George Watkins & Antoine Driver each scored a pair of goals to lift Maple Grove to a thrilling 6 to 5 win over a very good Anoka squad. Anoka took a 4 to 3 lead to the end of the 2nd period. But with 12 seconds left in the period, Driver picked off an Anoka clearing pass and drilled a half court shot to tie the game 4 to 4 after 2 periods. The Crimson took the lead in the 3rd period on another Driver goal, but Anoka answered with Tyler Kurkowski’s 5th goal of the game. But with 2:11 left in the game Boesen drilled a one timer from Billy Williams for the game winner. Anoka put on the pressure and had several good scoring chances to tie the game, but goalie Joel Phelps stopped everything the Mustangs could throw at him. Phelps picked up the win stopping 25 shots.

January 8 - Maple Grove 13, North Suburban 4

Maple Grove opened defense of their 2008 Adapted Hockey State Championship with a 13 to 4 win over North Suburban. George Watkins lead the way with a hat trick while; Antoine Driver, Alicia Taylor, Billy Williams and Ryan Cornwell each scored twice. Danny Boesen & Kamla Ramidhal scored the other goals for the Crimson. Boesen and Andy Brown each had 3 assists. Joel Phelps picked up the win in goal.
