The 2008 Maple Grove Crimson CI adapted hockey team will try to
improve their 2007 record of 12 & 3 and their 2nd place
finish at the MSHSL adapted hockey tournament. Maple Grove lost to
St. Cloud
in the Championship game at last years state tourney. The Crimson will
play in the MAAA North Division, with defending state champion
St. Cloud
, North Suburban, Mounds View,
Anoka
, Robbinsdale and Wayzata/Minnetonka.
Gone from last years
Maple Grove
team is Heather Bartell, Lucy McCarthy, Christopher Ringe, John Conner,
Andrew Moerke, Charlie Duffney, Jon Delisi, and Tiffany Madison.
Returning are 5 starters from last years team led by leading scorer
senior Anthony Nunn, junior defenders Antoine Driver, George Watkins,
sophomore wing Billy Williams and freshman goalie Joel Phelps. Also
expected to see plenty of playing time is senior Meg Hanson, juniors
Danny Boesen, Ryan Cornwell, Alicia Taylor and 8th grader Sam
VeoPradith. New to the team this year are junior Kamla Ramidhal and 8th
graders Zach Stanhope & Andy Brown. The biggest challenge will be to
find some offensive scoring help for Nunn, who had 58 goals last year. A
strong defense lead by Watkins, Driver and Phelps should be the strong
point of this year’s team.
