Crimson 2009 CI Adapted Hockey Preview

Season Highlights
The Crimson finished the regular season with an 11 and 1 record and tied for the North Division championship with Anoka. Billy Williams lead a very balance scoring attack for the season with 23 goals; Antoine Driver was right behind with 22 while Danny Boesen netted 19, Geroge Watkins 15 & Kamla Ramdihal 13 goals for the season. Ramdihal and Bosesn each lead the team with 13 assists with Alicia Taylor adding 12 assists. In the nets Joel Phelps played every minute of every game and notched an 11 & 1 record with 4 shut outs. Phelps allowed only 30 goals in 12 games for an average of 2.5 goals allowed per game, stopping 242 of 272 shots for an 89% save percentage.
Divisional Playoffs
Maple Grove will be the number 2 seed out of the North division and will host the number 7 seed out of the South division, St. Paul Humboldt, Thursday, March 12th at 4:30pm at Maple Grove Senior High. The winner of this game will advance to the Minnesota State High School League Adapted Hockey championships on March 20 & 21 at Bloomington Jefferson High School. |

The 2009 Maple Grove
Crimson CI adapted hockey team will try to defend their 2008 MSHSL
Adapted Hockey CI State Championship. The 14 & 1 Crimson defeated
Dakota United, 4 to 1 in last years’ championship game. The Crimson
will again play in the MAAA North Division with St. Cloud, North Suburban,
Mounds View, Anoka, Robbinsdale and Wayzata/Minnetonka. Mounds
View and Anoka
both return veteran teams and will be tough
to beat.
Gone from last years Maple Grove
team is leading scorer Anthony Nunn, Meg
Hanson & Ashley Fisher. Returning players are senior defenders
Antoine Driver & George Watkins, junior wing Billy Williams and
sophomore goalie Joel Phelps. Also expected to see plenty of playing
time is seniors Danny Boesen, Ryan Cornwell, Kamla Ramidhal &
Alicia Taylor along with sophomores Zach Stanhope & Joe Erickson
& freshman Andy Brown & Sam VeoPradith. New to the team this
year are, freshman Jenny Kettelsen & seventh graders Ger Yang and
Tasha Feigh. The biggest challenge will be replace the offensive scoring
of Nunn, who had 42 goals last year. A strong defense lead by Watkins,
Driver and Phelps should again be
the strong point of this year’s team.
The Crimson open the regular season at North Suburban on Thursday,
January 8th and the home opener is on Wednesday, January 21st
against Anoka. The Crimson will have 6 seniors on the team
with George Watkins and Ryan Cornwell serving as captains. The MSHSL
adapted hockey tourney is March 20th and 21st at Bloomington
Jefferson
High School.
